The name is a program: RESET. Because, after giving up control of Montura in 2021, the technical clothing brand founded in 2000, Roberto Giordani reset his experience in the outdoor world to create a startup. RESET, in fact, is controlled by Tasci srl, the holding company that also owned Montura.
The news of Giordani’s return to the industry risks overshadowing the content of RESET’s proposal, which is equally interesting: outdoor footwear that uses an internationally patented technology that allows for the rapid replacement of consumable elements without compromising the structure of the shoe.
Replace only what is consumed. At an acceptable cost
The first application will be a collection of technical sandals for walking and leisure. “A deliberate choice, because demonstrating the validity of the system starting from a simple product means putting the concept of durability at the center” as communicated by the company. The first products will be available from the winter season 2026/27 through a network of specialized stores.
Each component has been designed with this logic: a TPU shell designed to last over time, an anatomical EVA midsole and selected Italian leathers for durability, comfort, and quality. In particular, the focus has been on the outsole, in order to make it easily replaceable when worn out, without forcing the user to retire the footwear.

A different solution
It must be said that there are already other solutions that allow for resoling, but they involve going to authorized retailers and procedures that require specific skills, usually reserved for specific products such as climbing shoes, approach products, or mountaineering products. A technology often used on trail shoes as well, not so much for durability, but to be able to use a more efficient outsole.
The solution proposed by RESET, according to initial reports, allows for the replacement of the outsole more quickly and at reduced costs. A proposal that at first glance is more similar to the one used by Nike in the ISPA Link midsole. In the case of the American company, however, the focus was mainly on circularity, in order to easily disassemble and recycle the product at the end of its life, while the goal of RESET is different. “Why do we continue to design footwear intended to be quickly replaced when we can design them to last over time, creating sustainability through durability? For many years, we considered it normal to replace footwear when it reached the end of its life. We started from a different question: is it really necessary to replace the entire product when often it is only a part that has worn out?“ says Marco Di Bello, with a background in Montura and now responsible for the commercial development of the startup, as well as a distributor of a well-known brand of winter sports equipment.

In short, rethinking the way of designing: increasing the product’s useful life by addressing the parts subject to wear and preserving everything that continues to hold value. Which, in the end, is also the mantra of one of the prophets of sustainability applied to the outdoor world, the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard: do not cause unnecessary harm. Do not create unnecessary harm by purchasing a new product, because what creates the greatest environmental damage is precisely the purchase of new products.
