52 years after its founding and three years after the new ownership structure, Patagonia presents Work in Progress, its new impact report – a document that transparently outlines the company’s progress in using its business model as a concrete tool against the climate and ecological crisis.
The report offers a complete overview of commercial impact, ownership structure and environmental contribution, pairing data and metrics with a broader, more thoughtful narrative. The title, Work in Progress, reflects Patagonia’s own philosophy: a company that calls itself “an ever-evolving experiment”, constantly striving to improve.

“We want to show our employees, customers, and community where we’re making progress and where we still have work to do,” explains Corley Kenna, Patagonia’s chief impact and communications officer. “We’re not perfect, but we remain firmly committed to improving every aspect of our business – from product quality to supporting people and the environment. This document is a tool for transparency, not self-congratulation.”
In this way, Patagonia continues to redefine what a responsible company can be, proving that profit and positive impact can coexist.
A ownership model that protects the planet
Since 2022, Patagonia’s ownership has been divided between the Holdfast Collective and the Patagonia Purpose Trust, a structure designed to ensure the continuity of the company’s original mission: saving planet Earth. Profits not reinvested in the company are allocated to the Holdfast Collective, a network of nonprofit organizations dedicated to protecting nature and biodiversity.
This innovative model allows Patagonia to preserve its independence and ethical integrity, ensuring that every business decision aligns with environmental and social responsibility.

Covering fiscal year 2025 (May 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025), the report is the first comprehensive document that brings together the main reporting tools previously used – from Our Footprint to B Corp assessments – into one structured publication.
“With Work in Progress, we’re putting all the pieces together” , Kenna adds. “We want to build a constructive dialogue with our community, one that can generate better outcomes for people and the planet.”

The pillars of the 2025 impact report
The report is organized into four main areas:
- Responsible business: Patagonia as a model of entrepreneurship that prioritizes impact over profit.
- Product: an approach focused on quality and longevity to reduce unnecessary consumption.
- Community: projects and initiatives aimed at reconnecting people with nature and encouraging environmental activism.
- Giving ecosystem: how the company allocates its resources to address the climate and ecological crisis.
