The Scandinavian Outdoor Group (SOG) is intensifying its climate efforts through the SOG Climate Commitment, encouraging its member companies to publicly pledge to reduce their climate impact in alignment with the Paris Agreement. Several leading outdoor brands within the group have now made these public commitments, demonstrating their dedication to achieving science-based climate targets.
A meaningful step towards a sustainable future
The SOG Climate Commitment calls on members to align with a 1.5°C climate goal by setting clear emissions reduction targets and tracking their progress. This can be done through recognized platforms such as the UN Race to Zero or the Scandinavian Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA).
“It’s encouraging to see these outdoor brands taking real climate leadership. This isn’t just smart business amid tightening regulations and growing expectations from retailers and investors—it’s simply the right thing to do. After all, there’s no outdoor industry on a dead planet”
Michael Schragger, director of STICA.
Brands taking the lead
The following SOG member brands have already made public climate commitments: Aclima, Alfa Sko, Bergans of Norway, FabPatch, Fjällräven, Glerups, Haglöfs, Halti, Houdini, Icebug, Isbjörn of Sweden, Kilometer Studios, Kuoma, Kupilka, Lundhags, Mini A Ture, OrganoClick, Pinewood, Pomar, Reima, Suprabeam, Sjö&Hav, Thule, Viking Footwear, Woolpower.

These companies are stepping up to reduce their climate footprint and are inspiring the broader outdoor community to follow suit.
“This is a defining moment for our group. Scandinavian outdoor brands must not only speak about climate action—we must show we mean it. Now more than ever, we need every member on board. Real leadership is rising to the occasion, even when it’s hard. I call on all members to commit—for the future of the outdoors that not only inspire us but sustain us”, says Maria Frykman, ceo of Isbjörn of Sweden and chair of SOG
A Collective Journey
Launched in 2022, the SOG Climate Commitment reflects a majority decision by members to step up and take action. The aim is for all member brands to make a public climate pledge and actively work toward reducing their environmental impact.
“No company is too small to make a difference. Joining the SOG Climate Commitment isn’t just a promise—it’s a call to action. As a small brand, we want to prove that true climate leadership comes from courage, not company size. The time to act is now”
Marianne Haaber Ihle, cpo of Mini A Ture Copenhagen
Through knowledge sharing, transparency, and cross-industry collaboration, Scandinavian outdoor brands are positioned to be global leaders in sustainable business.
“This is an important milestone—but we still have a long way to go. We urge all our members to take that next step and show the world that Scandinavian outdoor brands take climate responsibility seriously. It’s essential that we lead from the front”
David Nordblad, Secretary General at SOG
To support members on this journey, SOG and its partner Peak 63 offer resources such as webinars, practical guidelines, and one-on-one advisory sessions. Collaboration with initiatives like the SME Climate Hub, Exponential Roadmap Initiative, and STICA provides further tools to ease entry into climate action and accelerate progress.
“SOG made a bold move in 2022 by launching the Climate Commitment—becoming early movers in the European outdoor industry. We understand the challenges facing many small and medium-sized brands, but we also see their strong will to take responsibility. Now, reaching our goal of united climate leadership requires even stronger action from all members. The transition is not only possible—it’s necessary”
Joel Svedlund, sustainability coordinator at Peak 63 and SOG
