3 June 2026

Sympatex Technologies comes under the control of the Italian Pidigi S.p.A., which will acquire the German producer of membranes, laminates, and technical fabrics after the filing of insolvency initiated at the Munich court on January 22.

The operation will become effective on June 1st and will allow Pidigi to acquire the main assets of Sympatex, continuing to operate with the historic brand of the German company.

Founded in Verona, Pidigi develops, supplies, and distributes materials and components for the footwear, leather goods, and technical sportswear sectors. According to the company’s communication, the acquisition represents a strategic step in the growth of the Italian group, which has been collaborating with Sympatex for years.

In the site of Unterföhring, near Munich, 21 jobs will be maintained and the training paths of four apprentices will be preserved. The international offices in France, China, and Hong Kong will also be confirmed, in addition to the commercial office in South Korea.

In parallel with the industrial restructuring, 25 employees of the German headquarters will be dismissed in May, with an expected exit by the end of August. During the controlled administration phase, about 20 collaborators had already voluntarily left the company.

Kim Scholze, appointed sole administrator during the insolvency procedure and tasked with leading the company in the restructuring process, will leave the group once the operation is completed.

The acquisition of Sympatex represents an important strategic step, built on a consolidated partnership based on mutual trust,” stated Giorgio De Gara. “We have known the company, its technologies, and the people involved for many years, and we are happy to welcome Sympatex into the Pidigi family.”

De Gara also emphasized the goal of strengthening Sympatex’s international business, ranging from high-performance laminates and footwear tapes to technical solutions dedicated to workwear, apparel, and the public sector. According to the manager, the combination of Sympatex’s technological know-how and Pidigi’s global presence will create new opportunities for growth and development in international markets.
