Within the European Outdoor Week, on May 16 and 17, 2026, Riva del Garda will host for the first time the Activation Days: two days open to the public, dedicated to running and outdoor sports. A unique opportunity to experience free activities on the field – road and trail running, trekking, nordic walking, and climbing – and test the latest product innovations. Among the unmissable events, on Saturday, May 16 at 3:00 PM there will be the Trail Running Experience by sportdimontagna.com, the leading Italian portal for outdoor sports, specializing in mountain running, trail running, skyrunning, and ski mountaineering. Its founder is Maurizio Torri, a freelance journalist, photojournalist, and communication consultant for some of the most iconic events in the trail, skyrunning, and ski mountaineering sector.
Who will lead the experience?
Making this experience truly unique will be the presence of Marco De Gasperi, a reference figure in international trail running, as well as six-time world champion in mountain running. He is also the new brand manager of VJ, a Finnish brand specializing in trail running shoes, with a tradition of over 40 years in orienteering footwear. Running with him means learning, improving, and… getting inspired! Alongside him will be Maurizio Torri himself, with whom Marco De Gasperi has already shared important moments such as the live coverage in Italian of the world’s largest trail running event: UTMB Mont-Blanc. 
Where will the run take place?
Starting from the Village of the Activation Days, heading towards Monte Brione. After a short warm-up section, you immediately enter the heart of the trails of Monte Brione: uphill stretches immersed in nature, panoramic views, and historical traces of the First World War. At Cresta, the view opens up to Lake Garda, before a fun and smooth descent back to the starting point. The meeting point is scheduled 30 minutes before the run starts at the Village of the Activation Days, located at the Giardini di Porta Orientale in Riva del Garda. The run has a limited number of participants: maximum 35.
