The Swiss brand On has officially inaugurated in Zurich the world’s first factory for producing LightSpray technology, the revolutionary manufacturing process for running shoes.
Introduced during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, LightSpray allows the creation of ultra-lightweight uppers in a single step using a robotic arm, reducing production time to just three minutes and cutting carbon emissions by 75% compared to traditional On running shoes.
The new fully automated factory marks a major milestone for On, which will produce uppers in Switzerland for the first time through an industrially scalable process. Further openings of similar facilities worldwide are already planned.
To celebrate the launch, On organized open days at its Zurich labs from July 3 to 6, featuring tours, workshops, and sessions dedicated to LightSpray technology.
